Air Crash Investigation (TV series): This is currently 13 season TV series on an air crash cases. This show is what got me interested in aviation in the first place. Each episode investigates a case in detail and slowly solves the mystery bit by bit. As the investigation uncovers information, and analyzes evidence and theories, I find it really fascinating! Although it’s devastating each time a plane crashes, I also think that it actually contributes to a safer aviation industry because we can acknowledge and fix the problems and improve the weak spots. This show also puts in a lot of aviation related vocabulary and mechanical parts. I learned a lot about the different parts of the plane and their functions through this TV series and I got to know the mechanisms in the plane itself as well. The cause of the crash is often very intriguing and difficult to comprehend at first. That’s what makes you want to learn about the cause and also search for more than what you’re told to quench your thirst for more aviation knowledge. You will also become so familiar with the plane after watching this TV series! I would definitely highly recommend this TV show to anyone, not just aviation enthusiasts! This is what got me interested in aviation in the first place! Anyone can become an aviation enthusiast after watching this! I just love how everything about each plane crash in this TV series seem so weird and illogical at first sight. Then, the investigation begins and uncovers information little by little. It's like watching a thriller! Each time a plane crash, at the same time that it's devastating, I also think that it actually contributes to a safer aviation industry because we can acknowledge and fix the problems and improve the weak spots. This show also puts in a lot of aviation related vocabulary and mechanical parts. You become so familiar with the plane after watching this TV series! |

Women Aviators- 26 stories of pioneer flights, daring missions and record-setting journeys. By Karen Bush Gibson: This is a book about female aviators in different times and categories, from Katherine Wright, who helped the Wright brothers build the first plane, to Jerrie Cobb, who is still alive today and flew to help people and had a dream of going to space. It introduced me to more different types of pilots, for example pilots in commercial planes and pilots in fighter jets. It is like a history book but full full of exciting stories about female pilots. I'm not usually a fan of non-fiction books but this book allowed me to learn many inspiring stories about female pilots. For example there were stories about Jennifer Murry (I'll talk more about her under the page "female pilots I admire"), who is a helicopter pilot that flew around the world for charities and Katherine Cheung, the first Asian-American licensed pilot. There are barely any information about these pilot online, but I knew there stories and back ground informations well through the book. Furthermore, I learned more about not only private plane pilots, but also famous female that flew for the military, for charity, for airlines and many more! Reading this book was an eye–opening experience for me. I also gained a deeper understanding of aviation histories through the stories! |

Le vent se lève, also known as The wind rises is a Japanese film about a boy who wanted to be a plane engineer. This quote appears in the movie many times(but its first appearance was in another movie): Le vent se lève, il faut tenter de vivre. It means that the winds rises, we have to try and live. The boy in this film faced failures but finally designed an amazing plane at last, surpassing the standards the buyers were looking for. The boy would always dream of meeting with his role model, an Italian aviator called Caproni. |
